Welcome to WRI,

Empowering women and girls in conflict-affected and underserved communities

Together, we create pathways to self-reliance, dignity, and lasting change in underserved communities.

What we do

The Women Resilience Initiative (WRI) empowers women and girls in conflict-affected and underserved communities by enhancing resilience and self-reliance through economic empowerment, vocational training, and cash assistance to support sustainable livelihoods. WRI advocates against harmful practices like early and forced marriage, promoting girls’ education and rights while prioritizing access to healthcare, education, and mental health support for trauma recovery.

Our Programs

Harmful Practices Prevention

This program is dedicated to combating early and forced marriages, as well as female genital mutilation (FGM), through community-focused awareness campaigns. By educating families, local leaders, and youth about the harmful physical and psychological impacts of these practices, the program aims to protect the rights and well-being of women and girls. A key focus is also on promoting the importance of girls’ education as a powerful tool for empowerment and breaking the cycle of harmful traditions.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR)

WRI also prioritizes Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) in our programs. We provide comprehensive education and services on reproductive health, family planning, and maternal care to ensure that women and girls can make informed decisions about their bodies and futures. Our SRHR activities include community workshops, health clinics, and outreach programs that promote access to contraception, safe childbirth, and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response

WRI is deeply committed to addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) through comprehensive prevention and response initiatives. Our GBV program aims to protect women and girls from violence, including domestic abuse, sexual assault, and harmful traditional practices.

Cash Voucher Assistance

This program provides cash vouchers to women and girls to support their self-reliance, enabling them to meet basic needs and reduce their vulnerability to gender-based violence.

Livelihood Empowerment

This program focuses on strengthening women’s economic independence through entrepreneurship training, vocational skills development, and financial literacy workshops.

Advocacy and Rights Protection

This initiative creates platforms for women to voice their concerns and advocate for policies that protect their rights and address gender-based violence in their communities.

Community Resilience Building

Engaging women in training programs for disaster response and peacebuilding, this program aims to enhance community resilience and women’s leadership in decision-making.

Access to Services

This program facilitates access to essential healthcare, education, and social services for women and girls, particularly in remote or conflict-affected areas.
