Our story
Women Resilience Initiative (WRI) was founded by a group of visionary and prominent women who initially came together as a grassroots community-based organization. Their early efforts focused on empowering and supporting women at the local level, advocating for women’s rights, and championing gender equality in marginalized and vulnerable communities. As the impact of their work grew, WRI formalized into a national organization, expanding its scope to address a broader range of issues affecting women across the country. Today, WRI remains committed to advocating for women’s rights, promoting gender equality, and fostering resilience through sustainable development. By uplifting communities and amplifying women’s voices, WRI continues to drive lasting, positive change nationwide.
The Women Resilience Initiative (WRI) empowers women and girls in conflict-affected and underserved communities by enhancing their resilience and self-reliance. We focus on economic empowerment through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and cash assistance, enabling women to build sustainable livelihoods and achieve financial independence. Additionally, WRI advocates for women’s rights and gender equality, actively fighting against harmful gender norms that perpetuate discrimination and violence. By combining economic support with advocacy, we strive to create a society where women can thrive, their rights are respected, and they can contribute to the development of their families and communities.
We believe in nurturing the potential within every woman and girl to lead, learn, and thrive independently. Our programs focus on equipping women with the skills, resources, and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods and take charge of their futures.
WRI stands for respect, dignity, and equal opportunity. We are dedicated to dismantling barriers to women’s rights, from education to healthcare access, creating spaces where women and girls are valued and empowered to advocate for themselves.
At the core of our work is resilience—helping women and girls overcome trauma and adversity. Through mental health support, community solidarity, and targeted assistance, we foster healing and strength, enabling them to rebuild their lives with confidence.
We are driven to make a difference that lasts, challenging harmful practices and promoting positive cultural shifts. Through advocacy, we push for systemic change that ensures women’s rights and equality in communities affected by conflict and hardship.
At Women Resilience Initiative (WRI), we focus on empowering women and girls affected by conflict and hardship by building their resilience and fostering self-reliance. We provide economic opportunities through vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and financial support, enabling women to achieve sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty. Our efforts include combating harmful practices such as early marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and gender-based violence, while promoting access to essential services like healthcare, education, and trauma recovery.
WRI also advocates for women’s rights, leadership, and political participation, ensuring that women are not just beneficiaries but active decision-makers in their communities. By creating environments where women can lead lives free from violence and discrimination, we aim to shape societies where their dignity, rights, and potential are fully recognized and supported.
Our vision and mission are the foundation of every WRI initiative. They drive us to champion resilience, foster self-reliance, and create empowering spaces for women and girls. Through each program, from economic empowerment to health and education access, our commitment to a world where women and girls thrive in safety and dignity fuels our actions and shapes our impact.
